POWERS:
Miscellaneous Molecular Transformation -
Candies and Junk Food Since the accident that granted her such an odd appearance-- an appearance she's cultivated to look like the teen she considers to be an arch-nemesis, Bubbly Blonde-- Kandi has found that with a touch, she has the power to transmute organic tissue-- and inorganic material in contact with it-- into any form of junk food she envisions. The complexity of these transmutations is apparently not a major issue for her-- or if so, she has yet to show any difference in the strain of her powers between a singular substance, such as chocolate, and a more complex one, such as a filled candy. Having a natural 'sweet tooth', Kandi ordinarily tends to envision various candies, cakes, cookies and the like, but it certainly would not be out of the realm of speculation to suggest that she could transform a person into a potato chip. People transformed by Kandi tend to keep their general shape, or at least some semblance of their former selves. How aware a subject is of such a
transformation seems also to be under Kandi's control, as well; meaning
she could conceivably keep a subject aware of their fate as a snack cake
if she so desired. What happens to any person who becomes ingested
after such a transformation is probably best left to morbid speculation. |

BACKGROUND/PERSONALITY: Candace Cain was a short, overweight high-schooler with aspirations of becoming one of the thin, popular cheerleader types, and therefore less of a social outcast than she was. But she had one major setback stopping her: an addiction to sweets. Some people are stress eaters... Candace had them beat when stress played no part; but with the added stress of being social outcast, Candace's binges became the things of myth and legend. And she likely would have remained a less-then-happy obese woman dreaming of being thin, if not for her singularly bad luck in stopping off one day at the candy store next to the Fifth National Bank in Midtown. Unbeknownst to her as she was scooping up chocolate covered raisins and malted milk balls, a robbery was being committed right next door. The robber, a third-rate thug named Penny Ante, came out of the store just as Candace did... and at that moment, Wander Woman arrived in response to the bank's alarm. Penny Ante immediately took the people on the street around her as hostages and threatened to off them, including holding a gun to Candace herself. Things looked very tense. And then a spray of soap bubbles filled the air around both Penny Ante and Candace. As Penny gawped, a quick savate kick landed upside her head and knocked her cold, and Candace came face to face with her savior, Bubbly Blonde. Seeing the teen heroine obligingly save her without a second thought and get the accolades of the crowd inspired Candace to take her pursuit of a slim, sexy body to a new level. But how would she go about it? Exercise? No... Healthy eating? Heck no! No, she was going to turn to strange sciences and magic! Although she was always a fairly apt student, she managed to get in over her head. Studying up on any sort of experimental weight-loss drugs and magical potions meant for cosmetic purposes, Candace thought she had found the perfect combination: A formula that would make her body slim and sexy, while also allowing her to eat anything she wants all the time. Foolishly overconfident in her theory, Candace downed the formula—with tragic and dangerous results. Her body did indeed turned permanently sexy and slim...but also bleached white and striped red! She was still a social outcast! Shunned even worse than before, Candace ran away. But it was soon after that she discovered the other side-effect of her experiment: With a thought and a touch, she could turn anything—or anyone—into junk food! For a while, it was enough to get back at the cheerleader sorts that led her to the eventual cataclysmic accident trying for a body they'd accept. But they were only the tip of the iceberg. One cheerleader in particular, she decided, had pushed her over the top. So, blaming Bubbly Blonde for her condition, Candace swore vengeance on the entire teen heroine community... One bite at a time. Thus Candace Cain was gone, and Kandi Kane was born! Soon after Kandi's villainous debut, where she even managed to turn Justice Friend member Miss Adventure into a peanut-butter filled chocolate statue, she was approached by a shady character who called upon her with a proposition: A team of teenaged villains banding together with the sole purpose of making the teen hero’s lives hell. How could Kandi resist? After all, her lack of willpower was what got her into this mess in the first place.... |
