OCCUPATION:    Entrepreneur and Business Owner, Crimefighter, Charter Member of the Justice Friends

Calling Miss Adventure's superheroic feats and acrobatic skill 'powers' might be a slight stretch.  In truth, Candace has more than a bit of inherited physical ability, lots of training, and great deal of good old fashioned intelligence... but no ingrained powers that could be classified as superhuman.  Candace has honed herself through years of physical and martial arts training.  She is a very good hand-to-hand combatant, and although Adventure Girl has a bit more acrobatic ability, Candace is certainly no slouch in that department, either... and like her young ward, she has good range and accuracy with thrown objects, as well.

Candace carries a small arsenal of supplies-- most of which she's had a hand in developing, sometimes with help from Walter, her butler-- in her belt pouches, including her Adventurrangs, CO2-operated grapnel gun, smoke pellets, fingerprinting kit, and other crimefighting essentials.  In the end, many times she winds up using her brains and abilities rather than her accessories, but one can never be too prepared for what villains bring to the table, in her mind.

BACKGROUND/PERSONALITY:

Candace Ellington is the daughter of a media mogul and an archeology professor. While still a young girl, her mother was killed in an accident on a dig site, leaving her father to raise her alone. This proved to be almost more than he could handle, as young Candace had apparently inherited her mother’s yen for adventure. Climb to the top of the tallest tree? No problem. Jump off the roof of the gardener’s shed? Why not? The girl seemed to be forever getting cuts and bruises from one escapade after another, prompting her father to start calling her his “Little Miss Adventure”.

Candace’s adventurous spirit continued into her teen years where, while the other girls her age and social status were learning things like poise and what to do on dates, Candace was studying self- defense and how to handle a fast car. So it really came as no surprise to her long-suffering father when she announced that she planned to explore a career in law enforcement. Instead of rejecting the idea outright, Mr. Ellington surprised his daughter by agreeing to allow her to enter the Hub City Police Academy … on one condition. In her spare time, she had to agree to spend time with him, learning the ins and outs of his media empire, so that if anything happened to him, she would be able to run it in his stead. It was a condition Candace was more than happy to accept.

While studying at the Academy, Candace met Leah Whetstine, another recruit that had grown up in Hub City’s slum district who, if anything, was even more driven than Candace herself. Despite their differences, the two quickly became close friends. Upon graduating at the top of their class at the Academy, the two joined the Hub City police force where, after their separate training periods, they became partners.  For the next two years, Candace remained with the police, until she was informed one day at the precinct office that her father had been killed in a plane crash.

Remembering her promise to him, she resigned from the force to become the new CEO of Ellington Entertainment, where she quickly proved that she was as good at the media business as her father before her. In fact, she managed to make several improvements that increased the company’s bottom line impressively.  But she never forgot the rush of being an officer of the law.

Now a successful businesswoman, Candace still kept in touch with her old partner Leah, who was working her way up through the ranks of the police force. Over the course of their many lunches, Leah told her that all of the various criminal elements in Hub City seemed to be on the rise, and the strain was really starting to get to her. When Leah-- someone whom she thought had more drive to be a police officer than even Candace herself-- said that she might just hang it up, because it often felt like she was alone on her side of the badge, it opened Candace's eyes to just how bad Hub City had become.

She felt guilty about “turning her back” on her friends on the force, but at the same time knew that she couldn’t go back on her promise to her late father. After much consideration, she came up with what she felt was the only way of being loyal to both of her life’s commitments, and to prove to Leah that someone was on her side through it all. A few weeks later, a masked adventurer began appearing in Hub City. Wearing a red, white and blue uniform and using several high tech devices, the woman calling herself Miss Adventure soon developed a reputation among both the crooks and cops of Hub City. “Who is she?” was the question on everyone’s lips.

Only Candace Ellington knew the answer to that question.
